What They’ll Miss The Most - In The Words Of The Homeowner

I will miss eating and working on my laptop on our balcony. Hearing the city sounds and people watching from above was strangely relaxing. It was a great way to catch up with neighbours as they are often out watering their plants or doing some laptop people watching of their own.

I will miss the parties at our condo. Our condo is very central in the city so it was often the preferred meeting point for our friends. We have had 8-10 people comfortably enjoying themselves for a dinner party or just for some pre-drinks before hitting the town at a nearby watering hole.

I will miss having the underground parking. I love not having a scrape the windows in the winter and being able enter the car without having to wait for it to warm-up. I will miss the feeling I get when I drive down the road and see that I’m the only car not affected by the big snow fall from the night before.

I will miss the layout of our condo. There is no wasted space and every square foot serves a purpose. The great thing about the layout was how easy it is to clean. When we get that unexpected call that guests are coming over, we can get the entire place looking great without having to stress out. 

I will miss going on long trips and not having to worry about anything back at home. Our condo has truly been ‘turn-key.’ I can lock the door and I never have to worry about it. There is no grass to cut, pipes to burst, or mail to pile up. 
 
I will miss the neighbourhood since it has everything you could ask for within a 5 minute walk. I have my choice of 4 movie theatres and any type of restaurant. There are 5 different pizza places, 4 sushi restaurants, and 4 Thai. There is Chinese, Japanese, Greek, Brazilian, Portuguese, Lebanese, and Italian to choose from. I can buy groceries from 3 different places and be close enough to walk home, no matter how many bags I have. The neighbourhood has some of the best watering holes in the city. I loved watching live bands and eating wings at the Chicken Deli or watching football at Philthy’s.  

As a runner, I will miss how close I live to the beltline. I enjoy long runs on the path through the ravine and saying hello to all the dogs and fellow runners along the way.  

I will miss our party room and celebrations we have had in it. The party room has everything needed to be a perfect host. We have hosted a bridal shower, baby shower, birthday parties, Christmas party, Super bowl parties, and a children’s magic show. Because the building is so central and the party room has everything you need, it is always the selection of choice amongst friends when deciding where to host a function.
 
I will miss our pool. Strangely, it is not used much by others, which increases my enjoyment. I am often able to swim for long periods without disruption. It makes me feel at times like it belongs to me. During the summer, I am able to take a short elevator ride to go swimming, and then go out on the terrace to suntan. I can literally take a vacation without leaving the house. At times, I feel I am enjoying the best of hotel-style living. After work I often hit the hot tub and it somehow makes the stresses of the day… less important.  
 
I will miss our work-out facility. Whenever I did not feel like running outside, I could hit the trend mill without having to drive out to the gym. With an elliptical, treadmill, bicycle, free weights, weight area, and floor mats, I can vary my workout each day. I can go, have a great workout, and be back in my condo in under 30 minutes. It took away any excuses I had for not working out each day. Having the workout area in the building allowed exercise to become part of my daily routine.

I will miss our 24/7, incredibly friendly concierges. They have helped me when I have forgotten my key or when I am having guests come over. Whenever I have a package being delivered I know I will always have someone to sign for it. Nothing ever gets sent back to the post office because no one was home. If I have something for a friend to pick up, I can leave it with our concierge and know it will be safe and secure no matter when my friend arrives.
